A view from Tehran's street: Hugo Chavez a friend
Wed Mar 6, 2013
People who work in the arts tend to be more liberal than the average person, but I think it's more complicated than that.
Carillo: Pistorius was 'jumpy' and had worries about safety
Tue Feb 19, 2013
Lots of holes in the story... 1) Even if he believed there was an intruder using the toilet, why would anyone with a brain not confirm that his girlfriend was in bed before firing blindly through a door at an unknown person? Especially since he had to go to the bed to get the gun! 2) He's screamin …
Taco Bell's Cool Ranch tacos: co-branding genius
Thu Jan 10, 2013
As the ultimate gimmick, Taco Bell could try selling actual tacos...swap out the prepackaged shells for fresh and hot corn tortillas, the ground beef for any of a dozen or more other meat products, and the cheese, lettuce, and diced tomatoes for fresh salsas and lime. When ethnic foods are mass-prod …
New York Marathon canceled, Bloomberg says
Fri Nov 2, 2012
This strikes me as one of the most bizarre decisions a public official could make. The mayor must be thankful that many of the homeless victims' computers have washed away, so he won't have to be disturrbed by their pathetic whining.
High school valedictorian denied diploma after saying 'hell' in speech
Mon Aug 20, 2012
I disagree strongly with the position taken in this piece. The word was actually used in the context of her reference and was not directed at anyone. Anybody, in Oklahoma or anywhere else, who chooses to be offended nonetheless by her speech can choose to be offended.
Who hates cilantro? Study aims to find out
Wed May 16, 2012
I enjoy cilantro, but one wouldn't expect only cilantro could be so polarizing. I often wonder if people who like coconut have completely diferent taste buds than I have.
Be happy, not just rich, says UN chief Ban Ki-moon
Tue Apr 3, 2012
Alrighty then. Let's all move to Bhutan, forget how to read, and be happy. Breaking that WWE wrestling move addiction and slashing my frivolity-sucking carbon footprint are just what the doctor ordered in MY pursuit of eternal bliss. Actually, this article made me happy. It's very funny.
10 causes of the Titanic tragedy
Sun Apr 1, 2012
In the U.S., the Standard Time Act wasn't enacted until 1918 (although the railroads adopted time zones much earlier).
Study tracks how conservatives lost their faith in science
Thu Mar 29, 2012
This is a useless study without context. What we're really talking about here is evolution and global warming. In the case of evolution, there is actual scientific consensus that species evolve, though there are certainly gaps in understanding when it comes to specific species and origin of life.
Immigration trips up GOP presidential contenders
Thu Dec 1, 2011
I think what gets lost in this discussion is a finer breakdown of what Republican voters really think on the subject of immigration.
